The World Health Organisation has given Javea Spain the honour of being one of the healthiest places on earth. This is because the unique setting of Javea, with its mountains to the west and the beautiful Mediterranean coastline to the east, this gives Javea a microclimate which is extremely healthy. There are a couple of towns up and down the coast, including Torrevieja, which has been designated as areas for health zones.

And the deep port which is in port part of the town, has much to do with the history of the area. In actual fact the Roman, Phoenician, Moorish, Visigoths, and later Christian navies all used the port, or the area where it stands, to crack the town. But the port we has also been a boon to the economy. Fishing has been done in this part of the world since time immemorial and the town still has a fish auction up and running.

You can get to Javea Costa Blanca quite easily from either Valencia airport in the north or you can come from Alicante airport in the south. If you’re driving, the main coastal road that runs all the way from Barcelona down through Torrevieja, Seville and Granada, is a fantastic piece of road engineering, although be careful because there are plenty of tollbooths in some of the more touristy areas. If you are going to stay here for a long time, you should consider renting a car. Javea car hire has a lot to offer with plenty of places to choose from in Javea itself, the surrounding towns and cities, or you can choose to rent a car from the airport you will have arrived in.

Tourism has been happening here since the 1960s. Not only do people want to come here to sample the wonderful Spanish people and Spanish cuisine, they also want to take advantage of the healthy climate. This has led to a dramatic rise in industries that surrounds tourism such as the hotel business, bars and restaurants, and construction in general. There are many visitors who think that this is such a healthy place that they stay for longer, if not indefinite period of time you. As a matter-of-fact, 50% of the population of Javea is foreign. This is basically made up of mainly English, then German and Dutch.

If you are coming to Javea Alicante, you should come prepared to spend a bit of time travelling around. If you want to stay in Javea itself you will find plenty in the way of accommodation. Javea hotels are some of the best on the Costa Blanca. If you’re not going to rent a car, make sure that you get a hotel close to the centre of the town. This way, you will not have to travel very far. Don’t forget that public transportation in this part of Spain is not the best.
